Programs, Conferences & Sharing

Conferences & Roundtables

CPAmerica members across the country come together several times a year at annual conferences and shorter themed roundtables to share knowledge, network with peers and listen to nationally acclaimed speakers – all while earning CPE credit.

Sharing is the key, and each conference features sessions where members are able to openly discuss their approaches to client service and firm management in a noncompetitive atmosphere. These sessions are consistently rated as highly beneficial to members.

In addition to annual conferences, special roundtables focusing on niche industries or service areas are offered each year based on member requests.

Conferences and roundtables rotate around the country to some of the nation’s most desirable destinations. In addition to the professional program, members enjoy CPAmerica-planned entertainment events, and many members form personal and professional bonds that last a lifetime.

Regular conferences include the:

  • Combined Conference that includes A&A, Marketing and Technology tracks.
  • Business Solutions Roundtable focusing on both the hard- and soft-side issues for dealing with closely held businesses.
  • Leading Partners Retreat where the managing partners of all member firms – along with possible successors – meet to discuss such topics as practice management and the future of the profession.
  • Firm Administration Roundtable where firm administrators from all CPAmerica firms come together to discuss firm planning and other topics. There is a one-day crossover with the Leading Partners Retreat.
  • Tax Conference that focuses on the latest legislation, regulations and other developments in the tax field.

Daily Information Sharing

CPAmerica members are able to share information and get their questions answered on a continuous basis through regular conference calls, e-mail discussion lists and priority requests.

Conference calls are regularly scheduled on such topics as A&A updates, niche services, technology, firm administration, valuations, firm management and marketing as well as on hot topics of special interest. CPAmerica staff members or member experts facilitate the calls.

E-mail discussion lists are available in more than 30 topic areas, giving members immediate access to the expertise of other CPAs across the United States. Discussion list topic areas include accounting and auditing, banking, business valuations, construction, litigation support, manufacturing, real estate, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, management consulting services, marketing, taxation and technology as well as many others.

Priority requests are sent throughout the association on behalf of members needing advice or information from other firms.

Member Updates

CPAmerica programs and services expand so rapidly that sometimes it’s difficult for member firms to keep up.

New members receive a full orientation of all the programs and services available through CPAmerica, but “veteran” members may not be fully aware of new services that have been developed since they joined.

To meet that challenge, CPAmerica developed a one-hour “Membership Opportunities Update” webcast to acquaint – and reacquaint – members with the vast resources available to them through their membership in CPAmerica. Members can request an update at any time, and one is scheduled for all firms on a biannual basis. It is recommended that all partners, assistants to partners, managers, marketing directors and firm administrators attend.

The webcast includes a tutorial explaining how to access the information members need and how to make best use of the members-only Web site, including the member Sharing Library and the member expertise database.
